#1 Sibley Park to Kimball Bottoms

This trip has much to offer. It is close to Bismarck, yet surprisingly quiet and peaceful. It offers some beautiful landscapes to the south and west. There are also many delightful sandbars along the way where you can stop and enjoy a picnic and a game of frisbee.
#2 Wilton boat landing to Double Ditch

If you want to spend the whole day on the river, then this is the trip for you. It is a quiet and peaceful stretch of the river. There are rugged buttes and handsome hills to the west. It is away from most development, but close to Bismarck.
#3 Washburn to Sanger Boat Landing (Cross Ranch)

If you are looking for a shorter trip, this is a great choice. The natural beauty of Cross Ranch State Park can be observed on the west bank. On the east bank, you can choose to take short excursions up Turtle Creek or Painted Woods Creek.
#4 Garrison Dam to Stanton

After you've tried all the above-mentioned trips, you really ought to paddle this first stretch of the river. It is quiet and scenic. The bluffs and hills to the west are really magnificent. There is always a flock of pelicans ready to greet you at the tailrace, and sometimes you will see an eagle or two closer to the Knife River.
